A vibrant double bassist, Samuel Nock expresses his passion for music through his engaging performances on the concert stage and private teaching.In demand as a freelancing musician, Samuel has performed with orchestras and ensembles across the east coast of Australia. He has performed as a casual section double bassist with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Melbourne Bach Choir and others. In 2023 Samuel was a part of Queensland Symphony Orchestra's Academy program, performing and studying with principal double bassist Phoebe Russell. Samuel has finished a Master of Music in Orchestral Performance at the University of Melbourne, a program in collaboration with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.As a chamber musician, Samuel has had the opportunity to explore interesting styles and genres alongside traditional classical chamber music. He toured regional Queensland with indie-classical quintet Topology with their audio-visual work Queensland At Home; it combines original music composed by Topology’s double bassist Robert Davidson and archival footage of “Queenslanders engaging in everyday activities”. Samuel has enjoyed performing chamber ensemble arrangements of video game music by AWR Music through their internationally touring concert, A New World: Intimate Music from Final Fantasy.
